SELF-HELP GROUP
What is it

A self-help group is composed basically of people who share the same issue. Six to 12 people get together to discuss, express and exchange life experience related to one subject common to all of them.

The group usually includes a health professional who acts as a facilitator, which means, integrates the members and manages, whenever necessary, the discussion among them.

The meetings happen once a month, usually. Specialists of different areas are invited to discuss specific themes, according to the group’s needs and demands.
